Steavenson loves watching Arsenal, watching English rugby and everything James Bond. He also has a drink choice for every occasion. 
What inspired you to pursue a career in communications, particularly in the technology sector?

My 25+ years in communications have been driven by a passion for helping technology brands tell their stories. I’ve always been fascinated by how technology transforms industries and impacts lives. I’ve had the privilege to work with some of the biggest and most dynamic technology brands in the world and the excitement of helping them to shape their narratives in such a continuously and rapidly evolving space never gets old.

What did you do prior to Highwire?

Prior to joining Highwire PR, I spent over a decade at FleishmanHillard, where I led the New York Technology Practice. During my time there, I worked with brands such as Google, Okta, TikTok, Salesforce, Amazon, Meta and Samsung. Before FleishmanHillard, I held leadership roles at Allison + Partners, driving client strategies for brands like Samsung, Airbnb, and Virgin Mobile, and earlier in my career, I developed my expertise in tech communications at agencies Text 100 and HWH PR & New Media.

What is one of the most defining moments in your career, and how did it shape your leadership style?

One of the most defining moments for me was leading the crisis team during one of the most challenging and ultimately successful product recalls in U.S. history. That experience taught me the importance of staying calm, agile, and strategic under pressure. It helped to shape my leadership style, reinforcing the need to be both decisive and collaborative, especially when guiding teams through high-stakes situations.

What do you believe is the key to driving innovation and growth in today’s business landscape?

I believe storytelling is crucial to driving innovation, especially in the tech sector. Crafting a strong narrative and building, and sometimes defending, a company’s reputation have been central to my approach. Innovation and growth come from understanding the market and effectively communicating how a brand fits into the bigger picture.

What’s one thing we might be surprised to learn about you?

I actually got my start working in the fashion industry as the assistant PR manager for the U.S. comms lead at a French fashion label. I loved my manager and he taught me all the fundamentals of the job, but I quickly learned that you really need a passion for the industry you’re in and the world of fashion, as glamorous as it is, was not for me.

What I’m doing when I’m not working…

Driving one of my three kids to sports practice/school/the mall/wherever they need to be. Watching Arsenal play in the EPL and (hopefully) the UEFA Champions League. Watching the England rugby team play the All Blacks. Expanding my ever growing knowledge of the world of James Bond. Lifting weights. Making cocktails (summer is for rum and gin, winter is for scotch and bourbon, tequila is for everything else). Shopping for tweed.
