Mal-Cloutier

Mallory Cloutier

I am an athlete to my core and committed to winning, particularly for my clients. My experience spans launching companies from stealth, leading IPOs and guiding public companies to the next phase of growth.

7 questions with a Highwire SVP

From South Shore to South End to South of Market, read on to find out what Mal loves about where she's lived.

What’s your favorite aspect of the PR tech space?

Tech PR is so unexpected and I love the pace at which everything changes. My favorite challenge is unpacking super technical and unsexy tech into something that a broader audience can understand.

What’s your area of interest and expertise?

I’ve done it all throughout my career – from storage and security, to fashion and lifestyle. While I like it all, I particularly dig working with connected consumer companies that are disrupting established industries.

What did you do prior to Highwire?

Before joining the Highwire crew, I was a VP at Inner Circle Labs, a boutique PR agency focused on frontier tech clients. Prior to Inner Circle Labs, I worked in the SHIFT and LEWIS Boston offices. Clearly I love agency-side!

What led you to PR as a career?

I was a campus tour guide to prospective students throughout college. Giving tours never felt like a job to me – even when it was 10 degrees or pouring rain, I loved sharing all of Boston University’s history, opportunities and special features. BU began sending me around the U.S. to speak to prospective and accepted students, which was such an amazing opportunity. As I was thinking of “what I wanted to be when I grew up,” PR seemed like such a natural extension of everything I loved about being a BU ambassador.

What I’m doing when I’m not working?

Milking my gym membership for every penny – you’ll likely find me running, spinning or rolling around a yoga mat. On the flip side, I’m obsessed with baking my way through dessert cookbooks.

Where are you from?

I was born in Hawaii, raised in the Bay Area and lived in Boston for nearly 10 years. All of these places feel like home to me.

What do you miss about where you’re from?

For Hawaii, I miss the land, how easy-going everyone is and my family. As for Boston, I miss every inch of the South End, how much people celebrate beautiful weather and the easy access to lobster.

Where the rubber meets the road

Everyone at Highwire is hands-on with client work and the principals are no exception. Some of the brands Kathleen has worked with.
